Joy Division Night
On the 18th May, 2015 – the 35th anniversary of Ian Curtis’s passing – we put on a special tribute evening at the Musician featuring some of Leicester’s finest (and me), including Kevin Hewick, Meri Everitt and the John the Singer. I performed a duet with Meri Everitt on “Isolation”. Then later I got to perform live in a band for the first time in my life. I billed us as The AMS (named after Martin Hannett’s digital delay machine) and we were: Simon: vocal, guitars Les Hayden: guitars, keyboards Kevin Hewick: bass Jordan Ross: drums We performed “Exercise One”, “Disorder”, “Heart & Soul” and “Twenty-Four Hours”. Unfortunately while someone recorded most of the evening from the soundboard we were on late and their battery had gone before we even got on stage. It’s a shame, but at least there were a few room recordings too, even if their audio quality isn’t always that great. All photos by Trevor Cobbe except the one with Meri (by David Hawkins) and the rehearsal pics (by me and Kevin Hewick).
